*The Southern African Development Community(SADC) Protocol on Wildlife Conservation and Law Enforcement of 1999 defines a TFCA as "the area or component of a large ecological region that straddles the boundaries of two or more countries, encompassing one or more protected areas as well as multiple resource use areas". The Protocol commits the SADC Member States to promote the conservation of shared wildlife resources through the establishment of transfrontier conservation areas.

Words from Dr nelson mandela

Foundation | Dr Mandela [© 2009 Peace Parks Foundation]“I know of no political movement, no philosophy, no ideology, which does not agree with the peace parks concept as we see it going into fruition today. It is a concept that can be embraced by all.

In a world beset by conflicts and division, peace is one of the cornerstones of the future. Peace parks are a building block in this process, not only in our region, but potentially in the entire world.”

SILENT AUCTION TO SUPPORT PEACE PARKS FOUNDATION

Foundation | Dylan Lewis - Leopard Statue [© 2009 Shayne Fuller]South African artist Dylan Lewis is widely regarded as one of the world's foremost sculptors. This exquisite sculpture was kindly donated to Peace Parks Foundation by Dylan Lewis to help raise funds for a cause that he has supported since its inception in 1997.

Mark Read, director of the Everard Read Gallery has said about Lewis: ‘..his bronzes resonate with a dense, almost visceral, energy that immediately set him far apart from those commercial sculptures dismissed as mere ‘animaliers'. Lewis's bronzes invite us to enjoy on a sensual level the lithe beauty of wild Cats.'

Peace Parks Foundation is conducting a silent auction of the sculpture to support its work in Africa. The majestic bronze leopard, standing 62 cm in height, carries a reserve price of R230 000. Please email your bids to Ms Adrienne Coetzee or submit them telephonically at +27 (0)21 887 6188. The closing date is 1 March 2010, after which the successful bidder will be contacted.

We urge you to support the vision of Peace Parks Foundation whilst at the same time adding this unique piece to your collection.

Our grateful thanks to Dylan Lewis for his generosity and support.
